St David’s Marist Inanda – Putting God’s Love into Action

This week (25 – 19 November), students from St David’s Marist Inanda have joined hands to assist in building a decent home in Palm Ridge, Ekurhuleni.

On Tuesday, Ishmael (Community Development Practitioner, Habitat SA) went with the students to visit Pheasant Folly Primary School, where they had donated vegetable seedlings in a ‘Beyond the Build’ initiative after the Habitat SA World Habitat Day Build in October. They were so happy to see that their contribution has been put to good use – and that this gift has the potential to improve the lives of 2300 of the school’s children. They were also overwhelmed by the school children’s living conditions as they engaged and discussed the daily challenges that they face at home. This insight is an incredible shift in perspective for anyone who has not known the effects of poverty or inadequate housing. The boys openly displayed their gratitude at the privilege that they experience in their own lives and many commented that this understanding creates an even stronger drive to do more in offering a hand up to those who are less fortunate than they are.

Thank you to the staff and students at St David’s Marist Inanda for the continued support and love that you pour into building communities with us.
