On the 26-27 January, we truly witnessed the spirit of ‘ubuntu’ as we were blessed by students, cyclists, musicians and donors who made it an epic 25-hours of BRIC Schools’ Cyclathon magic! We are so grateful to the group of Cape Town Southern Suburbs schools who spend many hours planning the logistics and fundraising toward this event each year, as well as participating in the gruelling hours on the bikes: Rustenburg Girls’ High School, Westerford High School, Rondebosch Boys’ High School, Diocesan College (Bishops) High School, South African College Schools (SACS) High School and Herschel Girls’ High School.
We were joined again by Ray Chaplin who this year managed to rope in the Combrink brothers, Chris and Quintin to join him in cycling over 500km, non-stop over the period of 25-hours. Truly an exercise of love in action! These guys gave it their all – what an inspiration.
Thank you to all who participated and contributed in the form of prizes and donations. Special thanks to the V&A Waterfront for the continued use of their amphitheatre for the Cyclathon weekend. Your support in every shape and form is a lasting gift to the families who need it the most. We can’t wait for next year’s event…
