We are proud to bring you our 2017 Annual Report.

Currently, South Africa is one of the world’s most unequal societies with approximately 12 million South Africans living in extreme poverty. Habitat for Humanity SA are driven by the belief that providing people with adequate, decent and affordable shelter is the best way to turn the tide on poverty. Habitat for Humanity SA has an overarching developmental approach which is informed by a People-Public-Private partnership (P-4) model which leverages resources from communities, government and private sector to achieve sustainable community development and promote affordable shelter solutions. Offering its partner communities a hand up, rather than a hand out.

Habitat for Humanity SA’s Volunteer Builds act as an entry point to bring partners from across all sectors together to connect with partner communities in a mutually beneficial exchange. The long-term impact is the community development work that is done beyond the build where the homeowners and community are empowered through workshops and training programmes to manage their own futures for generations to come. Evidence-based outcomes inform Habitat for Humanity SA’s ability to advocate for changes in the systems, policies and attitudes that prevent access to decent shelter for SA’s low-income families.

We thank the many communities, sector partners, funders, government departments, companies, faith groups, volunteers and individual donors who have made our work possible and partnered with us as we continue to work towards achieving our Vision of  “a world in which everyone has a decent place to live”.

Every hand makes a difference, one household at a time.
